Looking for a great family activity in Cozumel? How about Stingray City? Here you can snorkel and interact with many friendly string rays. There are two locations in Cozumel where cruise ships dock and Stingray Beach is conveniently located to both of them.  The facilities at Stingray beach includes restrooms, outdoor showers, bar, snack type menu items, photo center, and equipment rentals. The beach is completely rocky and not an area where children can play. However, the tables and chairs rest on sand and many small children would build sand castles in between the tables. Out on the water there is a large water trampoline, moonwalk, and bouncing pillow. Upon arrival, we were given a run down of what to expect for our day. We were handed aqua shoes for the stingray experience and snorkel gear for the snorkeling.  We were given about 30 minutes for each activity and we opted to snorkel first. There were plenty of fish to view but the highlight was the many stingrays swimming around. I could hear my children shouting joyfully at the sights below them. Pedro, one of the guides, swam around with food to gather the fish and stingrays.  After snorkeling, we swapped out our snorkel gear for aqua shoes and entered into the stingray portion of our tour. At this point, we were given lots of opportunities to hold and even kiss the stingrays. They were very used to humans and seemed comfortable with this arrangement. The best part was feeding time. Standing in about 18 inches of water, we were given fish to feed the stingrays. The rays were so friendly and brushed against our legs hoping to get some morsels of fish. You had to be a little careful not to let the little buggers knock you over. The snorkeling and interactions with the sea life was wonderful but our day was not over yet. After drinking some complimentary soda, my children were given life preservers and swam out to the water trampoline. Here jumped on trampoline and took turns being catapulted into the water on the bouncing pillow. Upon returning, they had chances to interact with the parrots and iguanas.
The staff at stingray beach was very friendly and went out of their way to make sure everyone was safe and had a good time. When we felt we had experienced everything we wanted to, we took the short taxi ride back to town.
