Service – It’s hard to not smile all day when you are at a Sandals resort.  The reason for this is everyone on staff is smiling at you, asking if you are ok and if you need something.  The resort is filled with individuals wanting to make your day the very best it can be.  Nothing is too big of a request.

Activities – The beach, water sports such as paddle boarding, hobie cats, kayaks, and snorkeling, unlimited scuba diving, pool with music, eight bars including three swim up bars, nightly themed entertainment, weekly events such as manager’s cocktail party, pub night life, volleyball, basketball, tennis courts, and more.

Sandals has two beautiful properties in the Bahamas.   They both offer exceptional service, beautiful grounds and accommodations, superb dining.  So, how do you choose?  I think the main difference between the two resorts is the energy they exude. Sandals Emerald Bay is for the couple who is more laid back and looking for quiet romantic seclusion.  Sandals Royal Bahamian also has quiet romantic seclusion on their private island, however, the property has more of an action vibe as well.  For golf lovers, Emerald Bay is a great choice as it sits on a stunning course with holes designed by Jack Nicholas.

Do you have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity that requires you to avoid eating gluten? Anyone who has dietary restrictions knows how difficult it can be to do.  Wouldn’t it be nice to go on vacation and not have to manage your restrictions?  Well, with Sandals you AND your dietary restrictions can take a vacation!  Eating at Sandals Royal Bahamian gluten free was convenient and quite delicious.

I recommend if you are going to be taking a Sandals vacation and have food allergies or sensitivities, let the resort know in advance.  It will give you the most flexibility for dining options. The Sandals resort chain is very equipped to handle gluten-free and all other requests.  In fact at Beaches Turks and Caicos, the Sandals family resort, they even have their own ‘culinary concierge’ office that specifically deals with any type of food issues.  Here are a couple of my experiences of eating at Sandals Royal Bahamian gluten free:

Baccarat – I dined with three of my colleagues at this French restaurant.  I ordered the seafood cocktail for an appetizer, salmon salad, and lobster for entrée.  When the bread was brought to the table, I asked the server if there was any gluten free bread.  The waiter responded they didn’t have any at this restaurant, but did have some at the restaurant next door.  I was pleasantly surprised when minutes later three slices of warmed gluten free bread were brought to the table.  I was impressed not only how quickly the bread came from the other restaurant, but also on the quality of it.  The rest of my meal came out timely already modified gluten free without me having to say another word.  Slam dunk Sandals!

Catered dinner on Sandals private island – On our third night at the resort, Sandals hosted a catered dinner on their private island.  We were whisked away by boat from the main resort area to the private island.  Upon arrival the water was lit up with romantic mood lights. It was breathtaking!  Walking from the pier onto the island was like walking onto the most romantic movie set I could imagine.  Burning tiki torches, gentle saxophone music, and flowing cocktails.  After enjoying the ambiance of the island, we sat down at the festive tables for dinner.  The first item presented to us was island crab cakes on spicy fruit salsa. Wow, did they look divine! However, I told the server I was gluten free and I could not eat them.  About five minutes later, I received a tasty chicken and potato soup as a substitute for the crab cakes.  The rest of my meal came out modified without me having to say another word.  Each time the server gave me my plate she stated it had been modified automatically gluten free.  First, was a tropical salad on assorted greens.  The entrée that followed was a grilled chicken breast topped with curried baby shrimp with light jerk sauce, fresh market vegetables, and potato du Jour.  Perfection Sandals!

I do not recommend waiting until the last minute like I did to let the server know about your food allergies.  It is easier for the resort and for you if this is done in advance.  But, in wanting to put eating at Sandals Royal Bahamian gluten free to the test for my clients, even on the fly, they passed with flying colors.  I thoroughly enjoyed every bite.  I will not hesitate to send any clients with food allergies to Sandals Royal Bahamian.

When asked what kind of family activities there are to do on the new Norwegian ship “Getaway” a better question would be what families can’t do. This ship is jam packed with all kinds of fun things to do, but Norwegian was really thinking of families when they constructed this ship. The best part about taking a cruise with a family on this ship is that you can spend a lot of time together bonding over the countless activities but you can also spend some adult time knowing that the kids are having a great time as well as being supervised. 

Norwegian is the only ship affiliated with Nickelodeon. This offers a very unique experience for families as they can participate in pajama jam breakfast, which includes eating breakfast with your pajamas on of course, with different Nickelodeon characters as well as an 8x10 photo to capture your experience. You can also get your grove on with Dora’s Dance Party where you get to sing and dance with one of your favorite Spanish speaking characters. You can participate in Nickelodeon arts and crafts where kids and parents can make memories that will last a lifetime. The last special Nickelodeon incentive is a meet and greet with the Nickelodeon characters. Kids can come down and get autographs with all of their favorite Nickelodeon stars. Norwegians special link to Nickelodeon truly offers something that no other cruise line can; an experience you will not soon forget.

Nickelodeon is just one special part of this new ship, other fun activities include an outdoor movie screen, mini golf, rock climbing, ropes course, circus programs where kids can train like real circus characters, swimming pools with five story waterslides not to mention a slide called free fall which just happens to be the fastest drop at sea. Another unique feature that you will not see on every cruise ship is a library, for the book lovers this can be a little slice of heaven to go check out that book you have been dying to read also a great place for kids to check out bedtime stories. There is also a video arcade with a two-story wii wall. 

If you have picky eaters in your family than this is the ship for you, they have over 28 different dining options for you to choose from.  You can choose anything from a good old fashion American steak, to French cuisine or Italian classics and so much more. 

Another wow factor is the amazing firework display lighting up the night sky, and anywhere you are on the deck is a great view. Legally Blonde the musical makes an appearance on this ship as well as an illusionarium, with magicians performing special illusions all from the comfort of your dinner table. 

If you haven’t heard enough I highly recommend you check out this ship for yourself. If family fun is what you are looking for than look no further than the new Norwegian ship “Getaway”.
