My children and I took a 7 day Caribbean cruise on the Disney Wonder. Since it was Disney, I was expecting a wonderful cruise and we got it. Disney often wins awards for best cruise line and its easy to see why. The service of their cast members is top notch. They must give the cast members on the ship the same service training they give their cast members at the parks. You are really made to feel special. The cabins on the Wonder feel, do I dare say, spacious? Another Disney perk is the split bathroom layout which gives you two separate rooms; one contains a sink and shower, the other a sink and toilet. The Wonder is an older ship and there are a few areas that show it’s age. However, the majority of the ship is in tip top condition and the ship is kept immaculately clean. That is no easy task considering the amount of children that run through it constantly. They must have someone coming through every 5 minutes to clean up the soda station alone. Disney, an entertainment company, really shines in this department as well. The evening entertainment is exciting and captures the attention of the entire family. Since this was our second time on the Wonder, we had already seen all the shows. But, this didn’t stop us from enjoying them a second time. Throughout the week I inquired with many families on their cruise experience. No one had anything negative to say. Now that is impressive! I was also surprised to learn of the amount of people who take a Disney cruise without children. But, when you combine some of the best service and entertainment at sea, great food, and many other Disney touches, it really isn’t that surprising at all. Every time I walked through the adult only pool the passengers looked quite blissful. This Disney cruise also had a Halloween night. There were Halloween decorations throughout the ship. The characters available for picture taking that evening were decked out in adorable Halloween costumes. In lieu of the typical towel animal in our cabin, our steward made us a towel ‘ghost’. Our cabin steward also left my children each a trick or treat bag filled with candy. On deck that night there was a large party with music and dancing and character appearances. Make sure if you take a disney cruise that you bring along your pirate gear for pirate night. Those cruising with Disney for the first time often are not aware of this weekly event that features an on deck pirate party complete with fireworks. Most passengers will be decked out in full pirate costumes. If you forgot to bring your costumes, you can purchase them in the disney shop. Another tip that most people are unaware of is that you can bring something for all the characters to sign as a souvenier. A tshirt, pillowcase, poster, etc. can be left at guest services at the beginning of the week. At the end of the week, simply pick it up and it will be autographed by 10+ Disney characters.
