One of the resorts that I got to visit this summer is the newly-renovated Sandals Ochi in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It was easily one of the best vacations I have had so far and here are a few reasons why: Amenities. When I first stepped into the resort, I was immediately impressed by the amenities. The resort has four public pools and another four whirlpools. If you want to take it slow and spend the day lounging, there are private cabanas with two comfortable beds. As if that wasn’t appealing enough, you will also be served by a cabana butler who will pamper you with towels, suntan oils, and hand-delivered food and drinks. Latest specials and promotions: Sandals Resort Promotions Restaurants and Bars. The resort has a total of sixteen restaurants that feature cuisines from all over the world. It provides a lot of options to the guests from fine to casual dining. A must-try is this casual restaurant called The Jerk Shack. Make sure to try their jerk dishes because one does not simply visit Jamaica without eating jerk chicken! Land activities. One of the best things I liked about my stay in Sandals Ochi is that I never ran out of things to do even during the times that I didn’t really feel like going for the pool or the beach. The resort offers various courts depending on the sports that you like, be it squash, tennis, basketball, volleyball, or croquet. They even have a rock-climbing wall. Make sure to check out their world-famous golf course, too! Latest specials and promotions: Sandals Resort Promotions Water activities. The resort is just so majestic that I was kind of tempted to just lay down by the pool all day to admire the pretty. However, that would be a waste of opportunity to try out all the water activities that the resort offers! Aside from the classics like kayaking and snorkeling, a guest can also try some of the newer water activities like Hobie Cat surfing, wind surfing, and scuba diving. If you are the type who goes for more “chill” activities, I recommend that you try Aqua Trike peddling. Unique features. The thing that sets Sandals Ochi apart from all the other resorts I have been to is its unique features. At first I was fascinated with the giant lawn chess set and the numerous pools peppering the resort (there are allegedly one hundred five pools and twenty two hot tubs, but not all of them are accessible to the public), but one of my favorite features is the speakeasy bar. It’s called the Rabbit Hole, and you can only get in if you know the password which changes daily. In a nutshell, I definitely loved my stay in Sandals Ochi. I am glad that I got to experience this hidden paradise in the Caribbean. Will I consider coming back? Just tell me when! A destination wedding is a dream for most brides. The appeal of destination weddings is understandable—the magnificent setting, highlighted by the exoticness of the place, with every single guest having that vacation glow. The whole scene looks like it was taken straight out of a romantic novel. However it is also something that a lot of brides consider as a disaster waiting to happen if most of the guests have not traveled before, or if there is no one left to do the dirty work. If you are having one yourself, and still in doubt whether you should get a travel agent or not, check out the reasons below to help you decide!
A travel agent can help you look for and find the best room for the price that you want to pay. One of the primary things that you consider when planning a destination wedding is the price. Sure, this is the more expensive option, but by hiring a travel agent, you get to streamline your bookings to the price that you and your guests want to pay. Aside from that, getting the services of a travel agent is also equivalent to tapping into a network of discounts, since they already have relationships with most resorts. Get group discounts, bridal discounts, early bird discounts, and a lot more. Wedding packages also have hidden perks that only a travel agent can help you take advantage of. You have someone at your beck and call to handle your guests’ travel needs. By getting a travel agent, you can already delegate the task of taking care of your guests’ travel needs. That’s good because we know that a bride already has a lot in her plate right? With a travel agent, you and your guests no need to worry about visa applications and other bookings. Plus, offering a convenient option is also a big factor when your guests decide whether to accept your wedding invitation or not. Seamless service not just for you. Even if you are very travel-savvy, the same cannot be said for your entire guest list. Having someone that you, your wedding coordinator, and your guests can contact for travel and “tourist” related concerns is really helpful, especially for last minute ones. Your live band did not show up during the wedding reception? Your travel agent can hire the island’s best fire dancers in an instant! Your maid of honor needs speed boat for a surprise bridal shower? The travel agent can take care of that, too! So some of your guests want to extend their stay in the resort. No problemo because your trusty travel agent can make the necessary arrangements. If you like the idea of a relaxing destination wedding then it is evident that you need a travel agent. I know that it’s an added cost and that you can DIY almost everything now, but the perks, the extra time that you get to allocate on the other details of your wedding, and the convenience that you and your guests can get with a travel agent is priceless! If you are wondering which one perfectly suits you, then the comparison below should be helpful!
Inclusions. The inclusions in cruise packages and all-inclusive resorts vary from one ship or resort to another, so the best way to really get a good comparison is to do your research once you’ve narrowed down which cruise lines and resorts you want to consider. Most cruise lines include accommodations, all your meals, some snacks and drinks, access to on-board sources of entertainment such as Broadway shows and on-ship casinos, and use of facilities like the pool, fitness center, pool table, and so on. All-inclusive resorts on the other hand, include accommodations, all meals and beverages, entertainment every night (although I must clarify that in most resorts, the shows are more low-key compared to Broadways shows featured in some cruise ships), and transport from the airport and back. Value for money. These two getaways seem to offer somewhat similar inclusions in their packages, but which do you think gives you the best value for your money? At this point, I am going to challenge you to stop reading for a bit and type your guess in the comments section. My verdict? I would say that all-inclusive resorts offers the better value. Sure, you can book a lot of cruises that are a lot cheaper than all-inclusive resorts, but we must also take into consideration the other expenses that cruising entails: taxes, airfare, extra fees on shore excursions, and even shopping. When you book a stay at an all-inclusive resort, there is usually no need to leave the resort for excursions, or go shopping. And oh, did I mention that drinks in cruises are really expensive? Quality of the trip. Cruising can give you a lot of scenery because it brings you to different places during the course of the trip. You will get the chance to see historical sites, natural wonders, and other popular tourist spots. Cruising also lets you immerse yourself in the culture of the place that you are visiting, as opposed to staying within the confines of the resort. For some people, though, being able to lounge beside the pool, having a spacious, cozy room, and being able to do water sports is enough to make a quality trip. So to wrap it up… Making the choice between cruising or going for an all-inclusive resort depends on what you are looking for in a trip. If you want to have a more laid-back and relaxed getaway, then you should definitely book an all inclusive resort. The same goes if your budget is not as flexible, because there is no need to spend on side trips—what you paid for the all-inclusive trip is close to your overall spend. If you like to visit various places and to experience a more luxurious vacation, then there is no doubt that cruising is perfect for you.
