Most people put Bora Bora on their bucket list for the same reason: the island’s beauty. If you’re one of them, then I have one piece of advice for you when you visit the islet for the first time. Make sure to choose a resort that will give justice to what Bora Bora has to offer. For me, Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa is one of these. First, the hotel does not downplay, but rather highlights the exquisiteness of the islet. You’ll never miss the majestic view of Mount Otemanu, which is at its best at the Intercontinental. You can see it from an angle where the mountain is most symmetrical, making you appreciate nature’s perfection even more. Another feature that makes the hotel marvelous is the shallow lagoon that’s just perfect for a laid-back swim. The upside of the lagoon being shallow is that you don’t have to worry about speeding jet skis or other guests doing rough water sports. It’s the perfect spot for you to be Zen. Second, even the hotel’s amenities pay homage to Bora-Bora’s attractions. Their spa offers seawater therapy. Does a vacation sound incomplete to you without a massage? Then you should definitely get one at the Thalasso! They claim that their treatments offer a “relaxing and rebalancing experience” that incorporates Polynesian techniques. Other than the spa, you can also spend some downtime sipping on your favorite cocktail at the resort’s infinity pool. With the right angle, it gives the illusion that the pool is one with the crystalline waters of French Polynesia. Third is the Villas. For me, what totally seals the deal is the type of accommodation that Intercontinental Bora Bora offers. Here, you will fully experience what it’s really like to be on a luxury escape with the resort’s overwater villas. It’s one of those accommodations where even if you stay in the entire day, you won’t feel like the day went to waste. After all, there is an abundance of great views everywhere you go within your villa. The wall facing the lagoon has a large window that will not just brighten up the room—it will also give you a direct view of the aquamarine water. Feeling like having a warm bath? No problem! The bathtub rests by the window, in a way that the view of the crystalline water from outside can add a calming effect to your bath. So, there you have it. These are my favorite things about Intercontinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa. If you were to visit this resort in the future and experience the same luxurious retreat that we did, which item from this list do you think you’ll like best?
